Chromium Poisoning

Chromium III is an essential element in our body. However, ingesting large amounts of it, whether accidentally or intentionally, can lead the chromium poisoning. This can cause stomach ulcers, convulsions, and kidney and liver damage. In some cases this can be fatal. But breathing in high levels of chromium can cause problems with the nose that include sneezing and itching. Severe cases can result in nosebleeds and holes in the nasal septum. Because of the possibility for chromium poisoning, federal agencies have set standards for chromium exposure in the drinking water, air and the workplace. In some cases companies can be fined if they are found in violation of these limits.
