Individuals may feel dizzy and weak, have fever and chills and have a cough that is troublesome. Long-term effects of inhaling dust that contains cadmium include kidney problems that can eventually lead to renal failure which is fatal in many cases. If the substance is ingested, cadmium poisoning is immediate. The effects are liver damages and kidney problems. Workers who inhale fumes may also get a disease called metal fume fever.
